Each one-hour class is focused on teaching specific behaviors or training techniques and learning how to apply them to your dog!
The Canine Good Citizen Program teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. The 10-step CGC test is a non-competitive test for all dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds.
It is a prerequisite for many therapy dog groups, and some homeowner’s insurance companies / apartment complexes offer discounts on pet rent if you have this certification!
AKC Puppy Class provides an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including house training, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills, such as coming when called.
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program and a great way to help your dog develop proper play & good social skills!
AKC Urban CGC is a title in the Canine Good Citizen family of awards and titles that also include AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen and AKC Community Canine. AKC Urban CGC requires that the dog demonstrates CGC skills and beyond in an urban setting.
As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC.
Dogs who pass the AKC Community Canine and AKC Urban Canine test are eligible to earn the AKC’s “ACGC” title. To earn the CGCA title, the dog must:
1) Be registered or listed with AKC (AKC number, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners number)
2) Already have a Canine Good Citizen and Urban Canine title on record.
AKC Community Canine is the third and most advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen Program. The goal of AKC Community Canine is to test the dog’s skills in a natural setting.
